Facebook pages
I presume now that all large companies have a policy as regards staff commenting on social networking sites like Facebook. My employer certainly does and it's all pretty draconian.
However, we still fool ourselves that we have our privacy settings high and all will be well. Think again. Although I have gone out of my way to protect my Facebook page, it has been viewed by management and the information on it looks set to be used against me.
It appears that my company at least create fake profiles and then sign up staff members as friends to keep an eye on them.
Be warned. Your privacy settings are useless.

Re: Facebook pages
I never talk about work on Facebook. To me its something that happens in the same way as going to the pub. Not something that happens at work.

Re: Facebook pages
You can get into trouble for doing it. I know of someone who made a comment on facebook that was not related to work. One of his colleague contacts reported the comment to the manager and the driver was yanked up into the office. Apparently he told to the manager the comment was none of his business as it was aimed at a member of his family not at anyone at work!
Re: Facebook pages
The only time I have put something on a social network site about work was when something really funny happened. No one was bothered about that. I think it's if you start slagging off the company you work for or start digging at colleagues they get concerned. Although they are only going to know about such things if you have colleagues as contacts. Unless they are personal, close friends or family who you trust it might be wise not to add any colleagues on any social networking sites!
