I may be mistaken, but I always thought that the idea of a bus stop was that people stood at them to wait for buses. Except in the case of hail and ride services, most stage carriage bus services use bus stops. It seems though that people these days have forgotten this. They seem to think it's ok to stand anywhere and everywhere and flag down buses. Then when the bus does not stop, because it's not a bus stop and not a safe place to stop, they then proceed to phone in and complain. What they often neglect to add when complaining is that they were not stood at a bus stop, which is why the driver did not stop for them!

Further to this:-

If you are sitting on the bench near the bus stop, your not at the bus stop so the bus will not stop.

If you are running towards the bus stop, you are not at the stop.

If your standing in the shelter by a bus stop that is served by multiple services, if you don't move, the bus will not stop.

If your stood at the stop, looking at the timetable / reading a publication / talking to your friend with your back turned / writing a text message / bopping to a toon on your iPod and you give no clear indication that you wish the bus to stop, it wont.

Me like a lot...Muahahahahahahaha.

What they also need to do in travel offices is dig a big pit, and put an industrial mincing machine in the hole. Cover the hole with a trap door, and any whinging tw@t goes down the hole...Sell the remains as animal feed LOL
