Wrightbus confirms new small bus
Wrightbus has confirmed it will be launching a totally new small bus this summer, which the company describes as “an important new addition” to its product line up. The company is not yet revealing technical details of the new vehicle, but it looks set to be a significant competitor for the Optare Solo and ADL Enviro200Dart.
Wrightbus says that the new model has been designed to bring the company’s brand values of technology and innovation to the small bus market. The company promises “class-leading features” in what is describes as a weight and cost sensitive market sector.
“We have got a proven track record of bringing new and exciting concepts to market and we have also had the benefit of starting from a clear sheet of paper on this exciting project,” says Wright Group managing director Mark Nodder. “Expectations of any new product bearing the Wrightbus name will inevitably be high and we are confident that our new baby won’t disappoint when it makes its public debut later on this year.”
The new vehicle is currently being tested at Miilbrook, with a launch planned before the company’s summer break. The bus will make its public debut at Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham in November.
Wrightbus has been absent from the small bus market since the early 1990s when it ceased production of its Nimbus body on Mercedes and Renault light truck chassis.

Well it's about time the Solo had some competion. I mean when it comes to buses of that size there isn't much choice about.

They have no lock angle and the arse end is too low on them, so they ground out easily on routes that have steep side turns...They are shite reallly

From a passenger point of view I would prefer an MPD any day over a Solo.

I'm interested in seeing the more conventional door forward version, without looking at the side of a graphic.
