Best drivers and riders bus?
What would be your preffered bus to drive as a driver and what would be your preffered bus to be a passenger in, and why?
I am not a driver so as a passenger the Plaxton Prestige SB220GS, comfortable ride and seats, nice engine and gearbox sound, quite fast, quite open inside, not as boring as a B7 and relatively rattle free.

Just wait til it gets a bit warm. It will be DOS as usual. Kettle on every 200 yds. From a driver's point, the Volvo B10M is pretty fine, especially when mated to a ZF box. The Volvo Oly/ZF with NC lowheight is a pretty decent beast too..

Going to agree with Bristol LH. Can't beat a NC bodied Volvo Oly.

Dennis put brakes on the options list, and bus companies were too tight to tick the box for them!

I'm also quite partial to a NC bodied Volvo D10M Citybus. Never been on any other double deck that is that comfy, fast and noisy bar an Ailsa!

Trying to stop a Lance/Plaxton was a challenge. Then when you did eventually stop the thing, and put in the handbrake, as soon as you released pressure from the foot brake, it would lurch forwards! Good design! They were bloody fast though

Re: Best drivers and riders bus?
I must admit, out of every kind of bus at our depot (NC bodied LO, Wright Scannie L113/L94/L94UB, Wright Volvo B7RLE, Alex Volvo Olympian, Placcy Dennis Drat/Volvo B7R, either the L94 (60199 is some bus!) VO(31642) or the B7R(20366) i would take any day of the week, altho im quite partial to 1 or 2 of the L113's(62291) that are not rattling machines, they can shift aswell, and love to overheat(not complaning!)
Its probs the B7R thats the best for both driver and passenger comfort however.

The ZF box makes a bus much nicer to drive, especially if the hold gears work. Would deffo have a Volvo Oly over a Leyland. Steering is just way better, and the multi adjust column.
Any B10M/ZF..Well...All I can say is NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE.

Agree with that - any B10M/ZF is niiiiiiiiice - haven't driven anything that can beat that in any department, comfort, speed, handling etc...
As for fun I absolutely love driving our old (80s) DAFs and tigers - the manual TL11 one being mega fun as it's quite a challenge to drive... goes like stink though!

Call me a masochist, but I don't mind driving a Bristol LH with a stick box and no power steering, and virtually no synchromesh. Double de-clutching all the time...Good workout for the left leg LOL

Its mid engined too, so a nice high floor with steps, and a narrow entrance, so no lard arses can get on!
